Map for HGV signage Floyds Lane/Mortar Cottage – PC has produced a map of likely sites for HGV signage. SL is to ask Herefordshire Council if signs can be attached to existing sign poles to reduce costs. CD suggested that a sign with a graphic of an HGV with a red slash over it has more impact than a sign simply with wording. PD has found a sign and will investigate costings Parish survey – agreed to publicise in the next Parish Newsletter. CD to raise printing cost with HT. Community Speed Watch – Bosbury has a Speed Awareness Group and SL is liaising with them. SL also mentioned that Brooms Green have erected a ‘private speed camera’ linked to a laptop PC. He will seek further information. Noted that the speed gun is only made available for a short period. White lining – noted that slow markings and white lining has been renewed at the Horse Road/Beggars Ash junction. Village and Staplow white gates – SL awaiting feedback from Bosbury PC and their speed awareness group. Noted that the suggested site for the Staplow gates is partially in both Ledbury and Bosbury Parishes and liaison is needed. 20 is plenty scheme – Signs can be placed on white gates but need to be located beyond the 30 or 40nmph signs. The scheme should be included in the survey. Hedge cutting – PC has drafted the article for the Parish Newsletter. PD raised the issue of hedge cuttings being deposited on footpaths. Beggars Ash hedgerows – SL has emailed Roy Barnes to raise the issue with the HCC Locality Steward. Budget – SL has raised the issue of a budget with HT.

| 3 | Parish Survey – Discussed and agreed the final wording of the survey form after consideration of the points raised by HT. CD will draft reply to HT.
Agreed: Add wording to opening paragraph ‘one per household’. Date for return of forms to be Sunday 18 August. Add ‘for short periods’ to use of speed monitoring device. Add to end of sentence ‘and could enable Police to take action’. Add additional question ‘Where should speed monitoring take place?’. Blind spots, add after road junctions ‘and bends’. Any other issues or concerns – delete Parish Council and insert ‘Road Safety Committee’. Add wording to the For Information section – Some of the actions will incur costs that may fall on the Parish Council. Consideration of how to fund these will be required but there may be opportunities for grant applications. A separate analysis for Staplow will be produced by SG and PD will do that for Wellington Heath village area. Plan to report findings to the Parish Council meeting on 30 September. |
